Pop sensation Jessie J and the Eden Project are giving local talent the chance to enter a competition for the opening spot on her shows at the Eden Sessions in July.
The successful artist will be joining singer-songwriter, A*M*E in supporting Jessie J’s shows on the 13th and 14th July on the last dates of the Sessions.
Eden’s Strategic Marketing Director, Rita Broe, said: “There’s a thriving music scene in the South West and we’re very pleased to be able to give the opportunity for local acts to open Jessie J’s Eden Sessions, especially as Jessie herself is such an advocate for new talent.”
Local music writers Jackie Butler (Western Morning News) and Lee Trewhela (Cornish Guardian, West Briton) will be compiling a shortlist of the best entries with Eden Sessions promoter John Empson, which will then be passed on to Jessie J herself who will pick the winner.
Falmouth University’s own alternative folk duo, Lily & Meg are already on the bill for the Kaiser Chiefs’ show on Saturday 29th June and will be opening the Mediterranean Biome Stage at 2PM.
“[We’re] looking forward to it so much! [We] can’t wait,” they said speaking about their opportunity. “We got the gig because a couple [of] people recommended us and we emailed the guy too.”
The deadline for entries into the competition is at midnight on Monday 10th June and all entrants must reside in Devon or Cornwall and be aged 16 or over.
Anyone wanting to enter the competition can do so by uploading a video of one of their tracks to YouTube and then sending the link, along with their phone number to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
